Andy began working for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in 1974 as a Lineman in Austin, Texas. He also worked as an Installer and Customer Services Technician. Andy served as a job steward, was elected Chief Steward in 1982, Vice President in 1985 and President of Local 6132 in 1988. While President of the Local, Andy was responsible for the Local's organizing and served on numerous bargaining committees. He was also very active in the Democratic Party in Austin. In 1990, he was appointed CWA Representative assigned to the Houston Staff Office. In March of 1999, he was appointed Assistant to the Vice President and on April 1, 2000, he was appointed Vice President of District 6. He was then elected Vice President of District 6 at the 62nd Annual CWA Convention in Anaheim, California. Andy is married to Shana and they have two girls, Jenny and Christina.
