Bargaining Report # 10
March 7, 2008
__________________
Contract negotiations continued today as the Company and Union Bargaining Committees worked on multiple proposals brought to the table by both parties. While a tentative agreement is certainly not imminent, some progress was made during today’s sessions. Members should view this as a positive step but understand that we are still a long way from reaching agreement on a new contract.
This evening, the Bargaining Committee participated on a conference call with the leadership of all Locals representing members of the bargaining unit. Locals are in the process of preparing strike and picket assignments. Members should contact their Union Steward or Local offices if you aren’t notified of your assignments soon. Members should also contact their respective Locals regarding mobilization activities that are being planned.

Contract negotiations continued today as the parties gathered to continue their work toward a new contract. Your CWA Committee reports that no progress was made at all. Job Vacancy remains a contentious issue that must be resolved. Many other Union proposals such as Wages, Compensated Availability and Night Differential remain unresolved. The Union Committee will continue to work deep into the Saturday night in preparation for Sunday morning’s session with the Company.
Your Union Committee wants to let the membership know that all the support, notes, and messages of support are greatly appreciated. We will continue to work diligently to achieve a fair Agreement by expiration. That said, the clock is ticking and members should contact their Local’s for strike assignments and mobilization activities that are scheduled.
