City of Stillwater Employees Ratify First Contract

Today, CWA Local 6012 held a contract explanation meeting and ratification vote for City of Stillwater bargaining unit members.  Ninty-six percent of votes cast were YES for ratification of their first union contract!  The Agreement includes protections against contracting out, "just cause" disciplinary standard, seniority rights, a grievance procedure with binding arbitration, improved transfer, job posting provisions, on-call pay, step increases for over 2/3 of the bargaining unit, improvements in pay when working in a higher classification, improvements in comp time accrual, additional safety equipment, and maintenance of benefits currently provided by the City. 

 

Congratulations and thanks to Bargaining Committee members who worked hard for nearly 10 months to reach an Agreement, which produced solid victories as well as a strong foundation to build on in future contracts:
