CWA/AT&T Bargaining Report #137
September 24, 2009
This bargaining report is for Tuesday, September 22, 2009. The Leverage Title Sub-Committees met today to continue negotiations. Unfortunately, after three days of discussions, there is nothing new to report. Ultimately, the Company has REFUSED to renew the Service Representative Task Force Agreement (SRTFA) in its entirety. Losing the protections of the SRTFA would mean that current Service Representatives that are Less than Satisfactory in Sales would NOW be Subject to Discipline.
At the same time, the Company wants us to agree to a Leverage Title that realistically isn't LEVERAGED AT ALL; at best I would refer to it as PAY FOR PERFORMANCE. As you are aware, the Company has proposed a 60% wage scale with 40% at-RISK. The Leveraged Representative must qualify in order to be eligible for any part of the 40% payout. The formula is UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!!! To begin with the Leverage Title must meet the Number of Calls Handled and the Productivity percentages in order to qualify. If they do not meet BOTH of those objectives they are disqualified from any form of payout. In addition to meeting all of these targets, the Leverage Title is required to meet at least 50% of the sales objective in each category to be paid out in each of those three categories. This is unbelievable.
In the Full Committee meeting, discussions took place in regards to the Premise Technician job responsibilities. The Company made it clear that if they were going to increase the Prem Tech's wages by $3.25 an hour they were going to require that they perform ALL inside work including Home Networking.
We are expecting the Company to provide us with a complete package in the next day or two. We will keep you posted.
