Parkway School District Agreement Ratification

CWA Local 6355 members overwhelmingly voted to ratify a three year
tentative agreement with Parkway School District in Saint Louis on April
7, 2012.  The Agreement provides average salary increases of 6% over the
first two years.  CWA was able to stop attempts by district administration
to undermine seniority rights and to add language to facilitate the
outsourcing of work from the organizing unit.  The Parkway Schools Board
of Education gave preliminary approval to the tentative Agreement in March
and will give final approval next week.

CWA members at Parkway mobilized and organized in preparation for these
negotiations.  Nearly 3 in 4 eligible members of the organizing unit are
voluntarily members of CWA.  They credited their unity to beating back
attempts by the district to balance the budget on the backs of Parkway
Schools support staff.  The Agreement covers approximately 200 workers.
