After extensive deliberation this morning over yesterday’s Sub- Committee’s meeting, your Bargaining Committee met in a joint session with the Company to exchange proposals. During today’s meeting, the company handed over TWO proposals to the Union.
One of the young men lost at Santa Fe was Christian “Riley” Garcia, the son of our CWA brother, Darryl Claussen, Jr. Riley died a hero. He was shot and killed while holding and blocking the door to save two of his classmates.
It is the end of the first week and there have been some intense moments and some heavy subjects already discussed at the table. We are extremely confident about your bargaining committee’s strength, knowledge and commitment to achieve a fair contract.
The Union and the Company met in full session today where the Union passed two more proposals. The Company did not have anything for us today. They are still working to answer our information requests we gave them yesterday. We are still assessing several of the Company’s proposals.
The Company and Union met Monday, May 7, 2018 to initiate bargaining for the contracts that expire August 4, 2018. Opening remarks were delivered by Mike Kruger for Frontier and Tony Shaffer along with Sylvia Ramos for CWA.
