On December 18, 2019, the Consolidated Communications bargaining team walked away from our contract negotiations. The Company wanted the Union’s bargaining team to withdraw a Union proposal and accept a Company proposal without even trying to negotiate a fair resolution.
The Election Committee counted the ballots today and the contract has ratified. The company will be working on getting the raises and backpay to payroll. The Bargaining Committee thanks those of you that returned your ballots.
Your CWA 6171 Bargaining Committee has reached a new Tentative Agreement with Windstream. We appreciate the patience and support of the committee while we were in further negotiations. We were able to reach a couple of modifications from the first TA. We will have a contract explanation call next Wednesday, May 27, 2020 at 7:30 p.m. (CDT) and the tentative Agreement Summary will be posted next week as well as the Election Committee mailing your ballot.
On Wednesday, April 1, 2020, the election committee counted the ballots returned for the Tentative Agreement that was reached and certifies that the agreement has not ratified. The Bargaining Chair will be reaching out to the company to schedule dates to return to the table to negotiate.
Your CWA Bargaining Committee is pleased to announce that the tentative agreement between CWA and Consolidated Communications of Fort Bend (Katy, Texas Operations) has been ratified by a huge majority vote from the Union members of Local 6218.
The Union and Consolidated Communications of Fort Bend Company (Katy, Texas Operations) continued negotiations Thursday, March 26, 2020. Your Bargaining Committee was able to work out a fair healthcare plan for our members after a very long day.
As you know, coronavirus/COVID-19 is a very serious health concern for all CWA members and people across the globe. These are unprecedented times. I hope you and your families are safe. Each of you have essential roles in ensuring critical services are still being provided to the public from maintaining essential infrastructure, health care and other social services.
In July of 2018, our Sisters and Brothers of District 1 were able to enter early negotiations with Verizon regarding wages and healthcare. They were successful in achieving a 4 year agreement extension. With our current CBA set to expire this September, District 6 assessed our options and noted that D1 had approximately 30,000 employees in their bargaining units and we are less than 30.
