VERIZON TENTATIVE AGREEMENT

In July of 2018, our Sisters and Brothers of District 1 were able to enter early negotiations with Verizon regarding wages and healthcare. They were successful in achieving a 4 year agreement extension. With our current CBA set to expire this September, District 6 assessed our options and noted that D1 had approximately 30,000 employees in their bargaining units and we are less than 30.

We resumed negotiations today, February 24, 2020 and we keep in the forefront of our minds that our current CBA expires this Friday, February 28, 2020 at midnight. We met with the company multiple times today and continued researching their proposals and how they would affect us collectively. The company countered a couple of their initial proposals after your Bargaining Committee rejected them at the end of our last session on February 14, 2020.

This report is to advise members that significant progress was been throughout the day, evening and night on Friday. While the parties have drawn close to an agreement on a new contract, some issues important to the Union remain unresolved as of this posting. As such, the parties have agreed to extend the current Labor Agreement to allow additional time to resolve outstanding issues.
